I hate housework, I mean really loathe it, and with two indoor cats shedding their fur all over the shop that isn't a good thing. So, today being the last long weekend in a while, I decided to tackle the filth and squalor of my flat. Its looking good so here are some pics of my lovely home.
No "before" images below though, I'm not going to be that cruel to myself:
30's sofa, 50's tables and repro chair.
Deco bar and TV cabinet, bakelite phone, annoying cable tangle:
Deco bed and dressing table:
My reward for a clean and tidy home is well behaved cats:
So its all looking good, if achingly white walled in the living room. I'm thinking a sage green or apricot for the walls. If I ever get round to it.

Car booty!
Thanks to the lovely Naomi of Vintage Secret fame I have recently discovered a fantastic local car boot sale.
Over the last few weeks I have picked up the following:
It's darker than the pictures suggest and really stunning.I'm fairly sure it is either deadstock or kept in a bottom drawer and never used as its absolutely mint condition with no fading. It could be new, hard to tell but I don't think it is, the faded paper tag on it looked old. It even bore a label reading £150, much more recent, but it must have been for sale in an antique or vintage shop at some point.
Pretty, pretty thing.
Over the last few weeks I have picked up the following:
- two 4 yard pieces of wool fabric £4
- various vintage sewing patterns - total £3
- 4 babycham glasses - £1
- working 70's superhot Carmen rollers that might actually work on my recalcitrant barnet - £3
- Art Deco depression glass cheese dish - £3
- 40's / 50's deadstock patchwork quilt - £25

Snoodlebug
I'm giving serious thought to a small sideline selling knit and crocheted snoods, flowers and perhaps other vintage accessories (post holders, doilies etc).
It has been pointed out to me that I need a sideline, something to help me rein in my hedonistic streak. Hmmm...

General catch up
Golly, its been ages since I last blogged, I'm determined to try this again and see if I can stick to it rather than boring all my facebook friends with my wittering on.
So whats happened since I last blogged...well I have two cats - Marlon a 14 month old British Shorthair blue and the baby Gene who is probably around 4 or 5 months. I love em.
I also had a short but ill advised love affair with a chap but the less said about that the better.
Anyway, having totally lost all interest in relationships I've moved all my energy into my new hobby, knitting. I know, I know, I'm a bit late of the old two sticks bandwagon but hey, I need a hobby that doesn't involve alcohol.
I've been knitting for a few months now and have finished a few garments (aside from the sewing up - which I hate) and also a few brooches etc. I'm really enjoying it so far. I'll be updating more regularly with my knitted projects I think.
I also need to do an interiors update.
Maybe thats my problem with blogging - I have too much to talk about and so don't know where to start...

My bedroom
k - its far from finished and the grotty laundry basket is being replaced by a Lloyd Loom gold one to match the stool and bedside table this weekend. Woot. Clear shoe boxes are arriving too and they will all live on top of the wardrobe and those boxes at the side will be moving. They contain the little used things such as sewing patterns, non vintage clothing and my Agent Provocateur underwear collection
But I loves my bedroom.
Looked how overlooked I am. so glad I have curtains now so creepy neighbour can't look in:

LL-B goodness:

Dressing table and glamourous laundry basket:

The wardrobe of glory - I love this thing, really!

you can see I have mirrors facing the bed from a number of angles, just perfect for.....being single

Navarino Mansions - Art Nouveau social housing
A bit earlier than my usual point of interest but this is the building that overlooks my little flat, its a beauty - thats the only reason I don't mind it being so close!
"Navarino Mansions was designed in the Arts and Crafts style by the architect Nathan Joseph to provide accommodation for 300 Jewish artisans from the East End. The buildings were completed on the south side of Dalston Lane in 1905 by the philanthropic association of the Four Per Cent Industrial Dwellings Company. During the 1990s the estate was totally refurbished to the designs of the architects Hunt Thompson. "
Its mainly social housing, a lot of elderly people and some very loud folk just opposite me. :-(

Scandalous High Socie-tea - what larks!
A few days old I'm afraid, I'm hardly a prolific blogger, this little flurry being entirely due to my current illness. Anyway - on Saturday I attended the utterly wonderful "Scandalous High Socie-Tea" a new vintage night pioneered by my lovely friend and uber glamorous pin-up model Fleur de Guerre ad her partner in crime the ever luscious Miss Emerald Fontaine (linky: http://www.thefoxpresents.com/thefoxpresents.htm).
It really was a blast, I got to catch up with Darhling, a beautiful friend and model who has just moved to London and who you will see with me in the photos on the site; I listened to the sweet and dirty sounds of the Sax Pastilles, met the gorgeous Zoe from Vintage Secret - hopefully more about them in a future post - and danced, despite having no knowledge of swing at all.
The Sax Pastilles really were wonderful, they made the night for me, a band with great musical ability, a clear bond and a very obvious sense of humour. Any band that use parcel tape, a childs potty and a plastic fish in their act are alright by me. If you, oh non-existant reader, get a chance do go and see them, I'm hoping they will be a regular at this event.
The next on is Hallowe-en night and is a 50's b-movie theme (you'll already know this as you will have clicked on the link provided earlier of course, I hope all my non existent readers are the inquisitive type...).
