Good day to you all.
I am feeling rather good today - especially in contrast to yesterday where I thought I was going to die of flu. It seems it was just extreme tiredness and an oncoming cold which I medicated with an entire bottle of wine and the hottest curry known to man. That and 14 hours of sleep seem to have cured me and I'm ready to get up and at 'em.
Today's plans mainly involve blogging, knitting and cleaning - so here is blog 1 of the day.
I had the afternoon off work yesterday to go and get my hair done, lucky me, and so got to pottle around the second hand and vintage shops of Angel, Islington after my appointment. I visited my very favourite shop and picked up a few little treats for myself. All this swag came in at £9. Woot.
This lovely if slightly blurred photo shows two gals holding their cats up for the camera, lovely:
A pretty little crocheted doily for on top of the deco TV cabinet :
Loads of knitting patterns, look at the sexy minx in the second picture down:
A souvenir rayon hanky, I'm going to clean this and frame it.
A stunning linen tablecloth with deco design embroidery:
I really do love second hand shops. I feel very content with myself. :-)

Anyone for tea?
Well, I bought the set I was after and it arrived this morning at the undignified hour (for a day off anyway) of 8am.
It is beautiful, a cream background with tunning and somewhat loosely painted orange, yellow and grey flowers.
I've got a teapot, 6 trios, 4 side plates, 2 cake plates a jug and a sugar bowl. Gorgeous! I also picked up some lovely silver tongs and a 4 matching teaspoons for 50p recently so I'm all set in the tea party department.
Here is my new baby in all her glory!
I've tried to find more of that rugged yorkshire dales pattern but there isn't a bean on the 'Bay.
Anyway - my yellow pattern is called "Sunburst" and while there are a lot of tea items available there isn't much in the way of dinner sets. Infact I saw a tureen on eBay with aprice of £119! It must be quite rare. I might try and find something complementary but easier to find for my dinner service.
I also treated myself to a lovely new (old) sewing box today - and have totally tidied my craft cupboard. Look at this lovely thing. I think its possible the cats like it even more than me! It was from my very favourite second hand shop - Past Caring on Essex Road in Islington - an absolute treasure trove of vintage lamps, glassware and sewing paraphernalia.
I also had a fantastic hair day today - but that's all part of tomorrows post!

My humble abode.
I hate housework, I mean really loathe it, and with two indoor cats shedding their fur all over the shop that isn't a good thing. So, today being the last long weekend in a while, I decided to tackle the filth and squalor of my flat. Its looking good so here are some pics of my lovely home.
No "before" images below though, I'm not going to be that cruel to myself:
30's sofa, 50's tables and repro chair.
Deco bar and TV cabinet, bakelite phone, annoying cable tangle:
Deco bed and dressing table:
My reward for a clean and tidy home is well behaved cats:
So its all looking good, if achingly white walled in the living room. I'm thinking a sage green or apricot for the walls. If I ever get round to it.
